The Kenya Health Security Convention (KHSC) 2026, held from 5th–8th May 2026 in Mombasa, brought together government agencies, development partners, researchers, and implementing organizations under the theme “Advancing Health Security through Science, Innovation and Equity.” The convention served as a key platform for sharing evidence, innovations, and practical approaches to strengthening health security systems in Kenya and across the region.

As a Bronze Sponsor, Ciheb-Kenya supported the convention through the provision of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials, including roll-up and tear-drop banners that contributed to the visibility and branding of the event.

At the Expo Centre, Ciheb-Kenya hosted an exhibition booth that highlighted the organization's work in health systems strengthening and integrated service delivery. The booth was coordinated by Arthur Waweru from the Communications team, with support from Laureen Chebet, Program Manager, and Susan Waeni, PMTCT Specialist, from the Stawisha Pwani project. Ciheb-Kenya leadership, including Dr. Carol and Dr. Christina Mwachari, also engaged with visitors throughout the convention.

The exhibition booth attracted a diverse audience comprising representatives from national and county governments, development partners, implementing organizations, and other health sector stakeholders. Discussions focused on Ciheb-Kenya's contributions to HIV programming, immunization, and community health systems, with many visitors expressing interest in the organization's approaches to implementation and sustainability at the community level.

A key highlight was the technical presentation by Dr. Christina Mwachari titled “Implementation and Evaluation of Strategies to Improve Catch-Up Vaccination among Children Under Five Years in Siaya County (2022–2024).” The presentation shared practical lessons from implementation, including approaches used to address gaps in routine immunization and improve coverage in low-performing areas.

Dr. Mwachari also participated in a panel discussion on community health systems, primary healthcare strengthening, and the role of innovation in improving immunization outcomes. Her contributions reinforced Ciheb-Kenya’s role in generating and applying evidence to strengthen real-world programming.

Throughout the four days convention discussions highlighted the growing role of digital health, data systems, and innovation in strengthening health security. Participants also emphasized the value of collaboration among government institutions, development partners, researchers, and implementing organizations in enhancing preparedness, surveillance, and response systems.

For Ciheb-Kenya, the engagement provided strong visibility and valuable opportunities for dialogue with partners and decision-makers. It also reinforced the organization’s role as a technical partner working at the intersection of evidence, implementation, and health systems strengthening.

The interactions and partnerships strengthened during the event reaffirmed the organization's commitment to advancing evidence-based programming and supporting resilient health systems that improve health outcomes for communities across Kenya.
