About CIHEB-Kenya

The Center for International Health, Education and Biosecurity (CIHEB) Kenya is a local non-governmental organization committed to improving lives through evidence-based solutions. We work across diverse sectors - including HIV and healthcare, education, gender equality, and economic empowerment, working closely with communities to foster sustainable change. In partnership with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and County Health Management Teams, CIHEB Kenya strengthens health systems to enhance healthcare quality in the country.

The organization was formed out of the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) program in Kenya having worked in the country since 2004.

Since 2020, CIHEB Kenya has adopted a comprehensive approach to building institutional and staff capacity within both community structures and the Ministry of Health. This includes strengthening health systems, providing targeted training and mentorship, and promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing to support Kenya’s TB and HIV prevention and treatment programs across ten counties.
